Tara uses a collaborative approach in addressing a wide range of concerns,
from adjustment difficulties to severe and complex challenges, such as substance use, suicidal and self-injurious behaviours. She has advanced training and a focused interest in the treatment of borderline personality disorder and is experienced in addressing issues that commonly bring people to therapy, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, fertility or postpartum challenges, and feelings of stress, anger, loneliness, or inadequacy. She is committed to helping others achieve wellness and balance in their lives..
Tara integrates an attachment theory framework and emotion focussed, cognitive/dialectical behavioural and mindfulness-based therapies to provide care that is individualized and client- centred. She has a warm and friendly approach that helps people to feel safe and secure in sharing personal challenges and she provides a compassionate, respectful, and non-judgmental perspective on complex struggles and coping difficulties.
Tara provides support for individuals and couples, as well as families of individuals struggling with substance use or mental health concerns.
Tara has experience providing counselling in community mental health programs. She has worked in a holistic residential addictions treatment setting and has taught in the psychology department of the Okanagan College. She holds a Master of Arts Degree from the University of British Columbia.
